12-year-old arrested in armed robbery on Juli Böheim

A 12-year-old boy was arrested Syracuse University basketball coach Jim Boeheim’s wife robbed at gunpoint in a parking lot at a mall.

The unidentified tween reportedly reached out to Juli Boeheim last week as she sat in her car outside the Destiny USA mall in Syracuse. according to Syracuse.com.

The child pointed an air pistol at her and reached into the car to grab her purse, the outlet’s police said.

The teenager then reportedly left the mall with three men in what was believed to be a stolen car.

He was charged with second-degree robbery, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and fourth-degree grand larceny and was being held in a juvenile delinquent detention center, according to the report.

Juli is co-founder of the Jim and Juli Boeheim Foundationwhich raises money for cancer research and at-risk youth.

She was not injured in the attack.

“I think what helped her was that it was a kid.” her husband said on Wednesday afternoon Brent Axes ESPN radio show.

“If it had been an older man, it probably would have… [thoughts trailed off]. Her main thought was: “Let’s help this child.” She does that, we do that with our foundation.”

Jim has been the head coach of the SU men’s team since 1976. The couple’s son Buddy Boeheim is currently a standout guard for the Orange men.
