1 killed in Fayetteville shooting, police say

FAYETTEVILLE, NC (WNCN) — One person was killed in a shooting in Fayetteville Sunday afternoon, police said.

Officers from the Fayetteville Police Department were dispatched to the 1600 block of Veanna Drive shortly after 12:15 p.m. Sunday for a shooting, according to a press release from the Fayetteville Police Department.

Police say one resident, Douglas Mangum, 30, was shot in the upper body. He was transported to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Information on a possible suspect is not available.

An investigation is underway.
