1 dead in fire at west Houston townhouse, officials say

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – Fire officials say one person has died following a fire at a West Houston townhouse.

Firefighters responded to a fire call at Block 6400 of Burgoyne Drive on Thursday afternoon.

At the scene, firefighters said teams conducted an offensive attack on the townhouse fire. One person was found dead. It is still unclear what caused the fire and whether anyone was still in the house at the time.

Authorities are asking people to avoid the area because of heavy emergency traffic.
