1 dead, 6 injured in overnight shooting at Mass party.

According to prosecutors, one person was killed and six others injured in a late-night shooting at a bon voyage party for a student about to leave for college in Lynn, Massachusetts.
Shots were fired from a vehicle in Lynn at people at the party, officials said.
The shooter or shooters remain free.
The incident was first reported to police around 2:20 a.m. on Saturday, officials said.
Police did not release the identity of the deceased, but a man at the scene, Brian Diaz, said so NBC Boston it was his 25-year-old brother Abraham Diaz.
He said the shooting, which left two people critically injured, took place at a party celebrating a friend’s graduation and college.


“No family should have to suffer the loss of a loved one through circumstances like this,” Lynn Police Chief Christopher Reddy said at a news conference Saturday morning, according to NBC Boston’s report.
Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker said authorities confirmed the shooting came from a vehicle and police “identified a chaotic scene.” USAToday reported. “This is a terrible act of violence that is tearing apart the fabric of this neighborhood and this city,” he added.
Police at the scene examined a black SUV with shattered windows.


“It is absolutely appalling that there is such violence on our streets and in our neighborhoods,” said Lynn Mayor Jared Nicholson, who also offered his condolences to the victims and their families.
Lynn has a population of approximately 100,000 and is located approximately four miles north of the Boston city limits.
