YouTuber IShowSpeed has apologized after making a sexist rant at a teammate in Valorant, which went viral after it was shared on Twitter. Riot suspended his account while YouTube investigates other possible implications.
Rising YouTube star IShowSpeed has not shied away from controversy. After climbing the platform’s ranks at breakneck speed, he came under fire in early 2022 for a sexist outburst on Adin Ross’ stream that resulted in a permanent ban from Twitch.
He was dropped for “sexual assault or intimidation” and then switched to YouTube full-time – both uploading videos and streaming on the platform.
However, a clip of him yelling sexist remarks at a female Valorant teammate went viral on April 7, sparking a new social media storm.
I now understand why Valorant queues are so incredibly toxic. They have one of the most popular streamers on YouTube IShowSpeed saying such crap and getting nothing but praise and laughter. crap is crap pic.twitter.com/grEghVotUF

In it, he yells at his teammates after missing a 1v1 clutch. After the woman voiced her concerns, Speed slammed: “Talking off *tch to me? Is a woman talking to me? am I tripping?
“Out with the damn game and do your husband’s dishes, bitch. Keep your mouth shut. Stop talking to me like that. I’m not one of those lame Valorant nerds.”
The comments quickly went viral, with both Riot and YouTube investigating the streamer’s behavior.
Valorant developer Sara Dadafshar replied to the clip, stating, “This is a huge whoop and we don’t want players like that in our community at all. I went further and permanently banned this player from Valorant as well as all other Riot games.”
Lester Chen, YouTube’s Global Head of Gaming Creators, also announced that the platform would investigate IShowSpeed’s behavior, saying he was “thereon“.
This is a huge whoop and we do NOT want such players in our community at all. I have permanently banned this player from VALORANT and all other Riot games. Thank you for bringing this up. Please spread the word and report things like this so we can make VAL safer. 🔨🔥

Speed later apologized for his behavior. in the an 88-second Twitter cliphe claimed the clip was from months ago and he’s grown as a person since then, but that doesn’t justify his actions.
“There’s a clip I saw that’s going crazy right now, me between an argument with a girl and I was playing Valorant,” he said. “I didn’t have a good day. I’ve received a lot of racist text-to-speech donations, but I don’t want to do that [an] Excuse. I’m wrong
“I’m not trying to justify myself [it]. I’m completely wrong in this situation. i am young In every situation I grow and I change. That’s not me anymore. My apologies to that girl – if that girl wants to hit me and say anything, I’d love to hear her out.”

He also went live on YouTube after apologizing with the words “you might not see me anymore” and talked about a possible break – although he promised not to leave his fans unless he was permanently banned.
“Something happened a long time ago and it hurts me now. I grew from this situation, but now it’s coming up. I do not go. I love you all.”
