Peter Sutcliffe’s ex-wife has been given permission to sell her old house.
Sonia Sutcliffe could make £280,000 from the estate, which had been empty for decades while her husband was jailed for horrendous crimes against women.
Sonia and Sutcliffe were married in 1974, a year before his first murder, and split eight years after he was jailed, before officially divorcing in 1994.
Sonia, now 71 years old, is oblivious to her crimes and the terrifying double life her serial killer husband lives behind her back.
They bought the house in Bradford in 1977 for £16,000.
Questions have been raised about whether the home should be sold and the profits given to the families of the victims, following a campaign from their loved ones.
But the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) refused to continue handling the crime because Sonia was not involved in Sutcliffe’s crimes.
According to The Mirror, she has now been declared the sole owner of the home and will be allowed to sell it.
Neil Jackson, the son of one of Sutcliffe’s victims, Emily Jackson, told the paper that the fact that they had not yet received compensation from the property made his “blood boil”.
The killer was jailed in 1981 after six years of protracted killing as women across the UK breathed a sigh of relief.
Sick Sutcliffe terrorized the streets of Northern England, leading to police attempts to impose a curfew on women.
He brutally murdered victims Wilma McCann, Emily Jackson, Irene Richardson, Patricia Atkinson, Jayne MacDonald, Jean Jordan, Yvonne Pearson, Helen Rytka, Vera Millward, Josephine Whitaker, Barbara Leach, Marguerite Walls and Jacqueline Hill.
