In his six years with WWE, Ali has never won a championship with the organization.
There is no word yet on whether Ali’s request will be approved, but WWE agreed to let Toni Storm go in December after she asked to leave.
In an interview with Metro in October, Ali claimed that McMahon told him he was ‘too nice’.
He commented, “Even before the pandemic, I struggled to maintain a TV presence and I knew it was all based on the character.
“When you introduce a million and one ideas about stories, characters, commercials, this and that and you always think you’re good but then nothing happens, you start pointing the finger at them all. everyone except you.
“After sitting at home for seven months and finally coming back to Monday Night RAW, only to get a few wins and then going back to not being on Monday Night RAW and now being stuck on Main Event, you are sort of scratching your head.
“Like, what am I supposed to do? And then you realize, you have to ask difficult questions.
“I personally went to Vince McMahon and said, ‘What am I missing?’ [He said], ‘So shiny, so clean, so beautiful, I wonder if you have that in you!’ “
