Wooden beam shooting: Antonio Green, 49, has been identified as the victim, killed by teenagers with a walking stick

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A 49-year-old murder victim who police say brandished his cane to fend off harassing teens before he was killed has been identified.

The search for the group of teenagers believed to be involved in the shooting death of 49-year-old Antonio Green late Monday night in northeast Houston continues Wednesday.

The video above is from the original story from May 10, 2022.

Eyewitness News obtained surveillance video that appears to show the group crossing paths with Green in the driveway of Houston Community College’s Northeast campus near East Crosstimbers and Fulton.

Cameras captured an exchange between Green and the group before the victim began brandishing his cane. He returned to a suitcase, which he was pulling before the teens physically attacked him on a sidewalk between HCC and Walmart.

At that point, one of the teenagers turned and opened fire twice as they were leaving, police said. Green was hit in the chest.

The video further showed emergency vehicles arriving at the scene and later the victim being loaded into an ambulance that took him to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

All police could say was that the teens ran north after the shooting. Police describe the group as two black men, ages 16 to 18, and four black women, ages 14 to 16.

Anyone with information regarding this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
