Woman killed, man hospitalized for wrong-way accident in southeast Aurora

AURORA, Colo. (KDVR) – Aurora Police Department said a woman was killed and a man was seriously injured in a head-on collision Monday night.

Police arrived at the intersection of South Aurora Parkway and South Southlands Parkway around 7:02pm to report an accident.

Investigators said they believe a Hyundai Santa Fe was traveling south in the northbound lane of Aurora Parkway when it was hit directly by a Nissan Rouge.

Aurora police said a 52-year-old woman, who was driving the Hyundai, was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. Police said a 42-year-old man driving a Nissan was also taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

The woman’s identity will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office once she has been positively identified and her next of kin have been notified.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
