Woman killed in car crash near Fountain View after MPs said driver failed to brake and crashed into pillars

The driver of the Toyota Rav4 crashed into pillars near Westheimer around 7:15 p.m., killing her friend in the passenger seat, investigators say.

Investigators at the scene said there was no evidence the driver attempted to brake as she left the road before hitting the pillars.

The driver underwent surgery and is expected to survive.

The public prosecutor’s office is trying to determine whether the driver was under the influence of alcohol. In this case, she faces a charge of negligent homicide by drunkenness.

Sean Teare of the Harris County Attorney’s Office said this was the start of a “very, very deadly week to two weeks in Harris County.”
