IF there’s one thing we’re told over and over again, it’s to always tell the truth.
After all, you’ll get caught in the long run…just as this woman soon found out.
Accept Redditan anonymous 26-year-old man from the US, explained how he ended a four-month romance with a woman he met through a mutual friend after he found out she was having a child – after she told him she was no child had a mother.
He then admitted to asking her to partially refund him £76 to cover some of the money he spent over the duration of their five dates.
In the post, he wrote: “During the conversation I asked her if she had children and she said no. Perfect. Because I don’t date single moms.
“I’ve had issues with it in the past and it’s just not something I’m comfortable with anymore. I told her that and she said she understood.”
But it wasn’t until he decided to find her on Facebook that he realized she hadn’t been entirely honest.
“I was in shock,” he admitted. “She had a child in her profile. I thought it might be a nephew. But I kept scrolling and found more pictures. Definitely her child.”
After an exchange of texts, the woman admitted the child was hers but explained that she “didn’t like raising him until she knew a man she could trust.”
However, the apology wasn’t good enough for the man, who raged, “She knew my take on dating single moms… my time was wasted.”
He went on to say that he doesn’t have the “flexibility and time” to meet single moms, adding that “the baby daddy/no baby daddy thing always leads to drama.”
The man in question then revealed he had asked the woman to pay £38 for a ticket they had bought for an upcoming music concert and £38 for the dates, which he had spent around £306 on.

And it wasn’t long before forum users hit the comments section – with very divided opinions on the subject.
“Why is he an AH because he wants money back that he wouldn’t have spent if this woman hadn’t lied to him?” wrote one.
A second agreed: “I think OP has every right to ask for the money back. It’s like you said, sell the ticket, but to this girl. Wouldn’t you agree? NTA.”
Others, however, had a very different opinion on the matter.
“Yeah, she lied to you, but asking for money on a date is petty and makes you look really awful,” one noted.
“Just sell the tickets on Stubhub, cut your losses and move on.”
A second commented: “Of course I tolerated the lying but what if she didn’t want to tell OP she had a child? Maybe she should have said something earlier, but it’s not like they were officially dating where they considered each other friends gf.”
Meanwhile, another wrote: “It strikes me as odd that their mutual friends haven’t said anything about her being a mom? Didn’t they know?”
