Woman dies in car accident after going off-road and hitting metal pipe on South Wayside Drive

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – Houston Police Department are investigating a fatal accident at 14100 South Wayside Drive that occurred around 1:25 a.m. Friday.

Police say a 25-year-old woman was driving an orange Ford Mustang northbound on Wayside when she lost control, went off the road and struck a metal drain pipe in a ditch. The car bounced back onto the road after the impact.

Paramedics pronounced the driver dead at the scene. Her identity has yet to be verified by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

Police do not believe alcohol played a role, but do believe speed played a role in the fatal accident.

The investigations are ongoing.
