Woman claiming to be designer convicted in Marco Island scam

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. – An Illinois woman was convicted Friday of fraud, for defrauding a victim of $77,500.

Pamela Lynn Vandeursen Thime, the wife of her husband who lived in an apartment building on Marco Island, met the victims in the same building.

She convinces them that she is an interior designer from Chicago, and invites them to work in the two-bathroom apartment.

She never did the job, but pocketed $77,500.

When the victim’s daughter went to Florida for a vacation, she realized her family was being scammed, and called Marco Island police.

The trial took place over five days.

The verdict has yet to be established.
