WNBA star and Houston native Britteny Griner arrested at Russian airport, official hash oil find

The Phoenix Mercury released a statement regarding her detention:
“We are aware of the situation with Brittney Griner in Russia and are monitoring it closely. We keep in constant touch with her family, her agency, the WNBA and the NBA. We love and support Brittney and right now our main concern is her safety. physical and mental health and their safe return home.”
Griner is from Houston. She attended Nimitz High School and played basketball under Coach Debbie Jackson in 2007.
“We are aware of the situation with Brittney Griner in Russia and are in close contact with her, her legal representative in Russia, her family, her teams and the WNBA and NBA. As this is an ongoing legal matter, we cannot go into the specifics of her case, but can confirm that her mental and physical health remains our primary concern as we work to bring her home,” said Lindsay Kagawa Colas, Griner’s agent.
