Winter weather advisory issued for areas of Middlesex, Worcester counties during morning commute – CBS Boston

BOSTON (CBS) – A warm front is rolling through southern New England, bringing rainfall for most of the area on Thursday. Some of the colder air in locations in the valley is hard to escape, so some towns to the north and west are reporting light snow and freezing rain.
Due to threatened light winter conditions, a Winter Weather Notice has been issued for northern Worcester County and northwest Middlesex County through 8 a.m. Thursday.
Route 2 between Athol and Leominster is likely to have some splashes before temperatures are no longer supported by ice or snow.
This rain and snow is one of Thursday’s weather. The rain would end by mid-morning, leaving us with a lull into the afternoon. By the evening of going to work, it is forecast that there will be more rain during the night.
Behind the cold front, Friday gets colder and cooler. The high is likely to be in the morning before dropping to 30 in the afternoon.
