Will Smith warns his wife Jada by saying, “Don’t use me” for clout in a resurfaced 2019 video that’s going viral on social media.
The 49-second clip, originally filmed by Jada Pinkett Smith on her Instagram Live, has garnered thousands of views Reddit since it appeared in the wake of Smith’s attack on comedian Chris Rock at the Oscars last month.
The 53-year-old actor made international headlines when he stormed the stage at the awards ceremony and slapped Rock in the face for making a joke about Pinkett Smith’s alopecia.
Now the newly surfaced video from 2019 has sparked speculation about the state of Smiths’ Union, with some viewers claiming the Men In Black star looked “uncomfortable” and “anxious” while speaking to his wife.
Pinkett Smith, 50, originally shot the video to promote her chat show Red Table Talk, with the vision showing her condition: “You know [therapist] Esther Perel comes to the table – she will be at the ‘Red Table’.”
She then points the camera at her husband and asks, “Would you say that she was instrumental in redefining our relationship between you and me?”
Smith seems irritated by the question and replies, “I would say don’t just start filming me without asking.”
Pinkett Smith seemingly brushes aside her husband’s plea, telling viewers she’s “still dealing with stupidity.”
She then proceeds to examine her movie star spouse, saying, “Would you say that she [Perel] helped us heal the hurts we inflicted on each other?”
The ongoing questioning clearly frustrates the Bad Boys star, who snaps back, “My social media presence is my bread and butter. So you can not only use me for social media. Don’t just start rolling; I’m standing in my house. Don’t start rolling.”
One viewer took to the comments section on the Reddit page where the video resurfaced and wrote, “Hey [Smith] looks so uncomfortable.”
Another chimed in: “He looks worried as hell like he knows Jada is going to provoke him and he’s terrified of how this is going to pan out.”
The Smiths confirmed it last year were in an open marriage.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, Pinkett Smith’s ex, August Alsina, fired back at rumors that he was planning to write a comprehensive book about their romance.
“What would that be must write a book about my supposed ‘sex life’ with ANYONE in life?” he wrote in an Instagram post. “If you’re looking for that kind of entertainment, read the book called ‘Holy Bible’ while you’re at it.”
Last week, sources said Page Six that Smith was “on a razor’s edge after months of tolerating taunts about his marriage” before beating Rock at the Oscars.
Pinkett Smith was seen in the audience, who seemed unfazed by the joke, before her husband stormed the stage and physically and verbally assaulted Rock.
That’s what the academy says Investigation of the incident in a “formal review” that will “investigate further measures and consequences”. Organization on Wednesday announced that it has ascended a meeting to discuss how to discipline him by Friday April 8th.
