Will Smith is defended by DJ Jazzy Jeff over Chris Rock’s Oscar hit


DJ Jazzy Jeff has defended his longtime collaborator Will Smith after the actor beat Chris Rock at the Oscars.

Jeff, who released hits like “Summertime” and “Parents Just Don’t Understand” with Smith when he was better known as rapper The Fresh Prince, called it men in black star’s actions a “discretionary decision”.

Appears on Closed sessions Legends Talkthe DJ said: “Don’t misrepresent that it was something he was proud of.

“I think what’s become clear to me is that I don’t know too many people who had the lowest level of wrongdoing than he did.”

He added, “I can count 50 times he should have punched someone’s shit and he didn’t.”

Jeff concluded, “If he’s misjudged, he’s human. And I think a lot of the criticism comes from people who don’t think such people are human.”

Smith apologized for his actions at the Oscars and said he was “out of line”. He previously said he “reacted emotionally” to Rock’s joke about his wife’s shaved head.

In recent years, Jada Pinkett Smith has been vocal about her struggles with alopecia, which causes her hair to fall out.

Rock’s brother Kenny said the comedian was unaware Pinkett Smith had alopecia.
