Why did Neil Parish remove the Conservatives’ whip?
The deputy had removed the conservative whip after contacting Parliament’s watchdog.
Neil has been suspended from the Conservative Party after two fellow members claimed he had seen pornographic content in the House of Commons.
After speaking to the Chief Whip, he referred himself to Parliament’s watchdog for investigation.
A spokesman for the Chief Whip said: “Having spoken to the Chief Whip this afternoon, Neil Parish MP is reporting to the Standards Committee of the House of Commons.
“Mr Parish has been suspended from the Conservative Whip pending the outcome of that inquiry.”
A few days before Neil was named as the MP under investigation, he had an interview with GB News asking his opinion on the allegations.
He said: “I think the Bureau of Whips will conduct a thorough investigation and we will await the result and then it will have to be decided what action to take.”
He later added: “We have about 650 MPs in a very intense area. You’ll get people stepping over the line.
“It needs to be treated and dealt with seriously.”
