What is the Icerind Hatchet in Elden Ring?
As we mentioned earlier, the Icerind Hatchet is one of the best weapons in the game for dealing frostbite damage. Like other status effects in Elden Ring, refilling the Frostbite Gauge activates the effect, damaging the target, reducing their damage absorption by 20%, and recovering continuously.
This applies to bosses and invading players alike. So if you need help with a particularly tough boss or just reliably dealing with players charging into your world, Icerind is a solid choice.

Where to find the Icerind Hatchet in the Elden Ring
As with many other weapons and items, it’s entirely possible to run through the game and never find the Icerind Hatchet if you don’t know where to look.
In the Temple Quarter you will find the Icerind Hatchet.
You won’t be able to find the Icerind Hatchet until you make it to Raya Lucaria Academy. However, it’s not in the Academy itself. Instead, it’s in a chest in a ruined building in the Temple District, southwest of Raya Lucaria.
Once you have the hatchet, you can also use the Hoarfrost Stomp ability. This allows your character to stomp to spread a trail of icy mist on the ground, which also applies the Frost status effect.
This ability is great for farming mobs from enemies and much more efficient than just killing them one at a time.
