On the trail of the devil

They disappeared in seconds.

24 years ago, Houston was rocked by the high-profile kidnappings of Friendswood’s Laura Smither and Tiki Island’s Jessica Cain.

For nearly two decades, their families searched for answers, until a convicted kidnapper, William Reece, confessed to their murders from a Huntsville jail.

Reece is now on his way to death row after being found guilty of the summer murder of Tiffany Johnston, a 19-year-old girl who disappeared from an Oklahoma car wash.

Tracking the Devil follows Reece evading the police for almost 20 years.

The ABC13 Original also includes exclusive interviews with the victims’ families and exclusive confession tapes as Reece attempts to explain his crimes.
