RONNIE O’SULLIVAN should retire and let young players thrive, says snooker star Hossein Vafaei.
The Iranian, 27, then struck at the six-time world champion O’Sullivan has previously told Vafaei that he might be suitable for another job.
O’Sullivan has also drawn the ire of John Higgins after implying he would not encourage his children to take up the sport as many play Snooker is “a waste of life”.
He said The subway: “A lot of what he says frustrates me. What kind of legend are you when you call people fools?
“I was and still am good friends with him, but I don’t like that. Maybe he likes it and makes him feel good, but I think people should treat him that way too. I treat him the way he deserves.
“Listen, he doesn’t need to remind us that he’s won 20 major tournaments. I think someone next to him should remind him that he’s Ronnie O’Sullivan.
“To be honest, Ronnie O’Sullivan wouldn’t be here at all without his team, without the people around him. He wouldn’t be here at all.
“He’s comparing himself to someone else. He compares me to someone else. I do not like that. We don’t have to compare ourselves to others.
“He says you’re poor, I’m rich, I’m Ronnie O’Sullivan. I do not like it. I have money, my people in Iran have money, but we also have to respect the people.

“I really don’t want to get involved in those kinds of conversations. I like him a lot, I’m his fan, I love what he does, but sometimes he’s disrespectful, he’s not good for the game.
“I think he should retire to be honest. He should retire and then the younger generation should make the game bigger.”
