What is Jussie Smollett Net Worth?

Despite his exit from the FOX hit series Empire, Smollett has amassed a wealthy fortune for himself.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Smollett has an estimated net worth of $500,000.

The star began his Hollywood career as a child actor, appearing in films such as The Mighty Ducks and Rob Reiner’s North.

However, Smollett is widely known for portraying musician Jamal Lyon in Empire.

The role of Lyon was hailed as groundbreaking for her positive portrayal of a black gay man on television.

What was the verdict in the Jussie Smollett trial?

Smollett pleaded not guilty to the criminal case against him.

On the evening of December 9, 2021, the jury ruled on the allegation that Smollett staged an anti-gay, racist jury attack on himself.

The jury found Smollett, 39, guilty on five of six counts.

On March 10, 2022, Smollett was sentenced to 30 months probation for a felony charge. He was also ordered to pay a $25,000 fine and $120,000 in compensation to the City of Chicago.

Smollett was also ordered to serve the first 150 days of his sentence in the Cook County Jail in Chicago.

On March 16, 2022, Jussie Smollett was ordered by the court to be released from prison, reports AP New.

An appeals court agreed with Smollett’s attorneys that he should be released pending an appeal of his conviction.

The decision came after he was sentenced to 150 days in prison on March 10, 2022 for the allegations against him.

In a 2-1 decision, the appeals court said Smollett could be released after posting $150,000 personal acknowledgment bail, according to the Associated Press.

That means Smollett doesn’t have to deposit any money, instead agreeing to go to court if necessary.

Court of Appeal Judges Thomas Hoffman and Joy Cunningham signed the order granting Smollett’s request for release, which found he was convicted of nonviolent crimes. Judge Maureen Connors disagreed.

On July 14, a judge at Smollett’s retrial met with the actor.

In February 2020, a special Cook County grand jury returned a six-count indictment accusing Smollett of lying to the Chicago Police Department.

Smollett has pleaded innocent to the new indictment and has pleaded not guilty.

Charges were reinstated after a special prosecutor was assigned to investigate the entire case – after a judge found “unprecedented irregularities” in the way Cook County Prosecutor Kim Foxx was handling the case.

FOX News caught up with Smollett just before entering the courthouse and described the trial he was about to attend as a “dog and pony show.”

At the time of the alleged brawl, Smollett, who is black and gay, told police that two masked men attacked him as he was walking home in the early hours of January 29, 2019.

Smollett said the men used racial and homophobic slurs, punched him and put a noose around his neck before fleeing.

The disgraced actor also insisted that at least one of his attackers was a white man, who told him he was in “MAGA country,” a reference to former President Donald Trump’s campaign slogan of “Make America Great Again.”

However, brothers Bola and Ola Osundario soon turned themselves in and told police that the actor had paid them $3,500 to jump on him on a Chicago street to raise his profile because he was dissatisfied with his role in Empire.

The two brothers were associated with the FOX series, which is why Smollett knew them.

The actor has denied Bola and Ola’s allegations, claiming the brothers are not telling the truth.

When does Jussie Smollett’s trial end?

Smollett’s trial began on November 29, 2021.

Judge James Linn said during an October hearing that cameras were not allowed in court.

The same day, the actor’s attorneys made a final attempt to dismiss the case, but the judge denied the motion.

The trial concluded on Wednesday, December 8 with jury deliberations beginning at approximately 2:45 pm CT.
