Many will know ASL primarily as American Sign Language, and there’s a wealth of content related to it in the app, including lessons, tutorials, and song covers. It is usually written in capital letters in this context.

Another popular meaning of the word is “age, gender, location,” although this abbreviation might be outdated for some.

ASL is far from the only acronym or slang term confusing thousands of people on TikTok. Terms like POV, middle, and accountant all have their own specific meanings within the app.
