WEST HAM poked fun at Lyon after knocking them out of the Europa League with a blistering performance in France.
Ahead of the game, the Ligue 1 side arrogantly tweeted that there was “no chance they won’t reach the semi-finals”.
But Lyon’s hubris came back to bite her – with goalscorer Declan Rice quoting the post and tweeting: “That’s aged well.”
Lyon star Moussa Dembele also came in for a good trolling west hams Twitter admin.
The French striker was something of a pantomime villain for him after the first leg A wink after the red card to Aaron Cresswell.
But after making a stunning performance to book a famous win in the second leg, West Ham responded by sharing a picture of Dembele’s grin – and a wink emoji to boot.
Elsewhere, Mikhail Antonio, known for his humorous social media postsShe, too, went into action.
He shared a photo Twitter of herself, who looked like he was about to burst, alongside a caption that read: “Can’t last long…….
“WEST HAM ARE MASSIVE EVERYWHERE WE GO WEST HAM ARE MASSIVE EVERYWHERE WE GOOOOOOOOOO EVERYWHERE WE GOOOOOOOO ⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒⚒.”
And Rice couldn’t help but criticize Lyon’s behavior in his post-match comments either, admitting Dembele’s wink was an extra motivation for his side.
He told BT Sport: “If you can’t get up for these games then you shouldn’t be playing football.
“The rumble of the warm up, it was goosebumps and it gives you the fire in your stomach to go out and perform.
“There was some incentive for us to go out and win tonight.
“Dembele winks at the camera in the first leg and their Twitter admin kinda says they don’t see how they won’t go through…
“These things come back to bite you.
“We stayed calm, put in a performance and now West Ham are in the semi-finals. What more do we want?”
