Wednesday’s Trailer: Jenna Ortega spawns bags of piranhas in Tim Burton’s Addams Family spin-off

Netflix has released the first trailer for the upcoming Addams Family spin-off series Wednesday on – you guessed it – Wednesday (17 August).

The series stars You Actor Jenna Ortega as the titular daughter of Morticia and Gomez Addams (played by Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán).

The trailer shows Wednesday trashing her classmates, throwing two bags of piranhas into a pool full of jocks who appear to have been bullying their brother Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez).

We then see her enrolled at Nevermore Academy, where she “tries to master her nascent psychic abilities” while “thwarting a monstrous rampage that has been terrorizing the local town,” according to Netflix’s official description.

“I had no idea I was stepping into a nightmare,” says Ortega in the trailer. “Full of mystery, mayhem and murder. I think I’ll love it here.”

Kleinville Co-creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar are serving as showrunners on the project, while Tim Burton is directing and executive producing four of the eight episodes after famously turning down an offer to direct the 1991 film series.
