Wayne Rooney tells Marcus Rashford to ‘get the fuck his head out of his butt’ and break his Man Utd goals record

WAYNE ROONEY has offered some old-school advice to Marcus Rashford as he urged the out-of-shape star to break his Manchester United record.

Rooney made a whopping 559 appearances and overtook Sir Bobby Charlton’s tally Unitedis the all-time top scorer with 253 goals.

Now he has supported his 24-year-old friend Rashford “getting your head out of your ass” to keep him going and surpassing him.

The United ace arrived on the scene towards the end of Rooney’s stint at Old Trafford in 2016 and had the world at his feet.

This season, however, the England international’s form and confidence appear to have dropped dramatically.

He has reached sterile form and has slipped way down the pecking order – with just five goals in 26 games in all competitions and two in 90 minutes.

The England international was deposed by Gareth Southgate for the current Three Lions camp and he had to deny swearing at a fan in the midst of a confrontation with heckling after United’s departure from the Champions League.

That has led to speculation that he might go along Arsenal are the latest side to be linked with a move.

But Rooney made it clear when he appeared on stage at an exclusive £300-a-ticket black-tie dinner event in Manchester on Saturday night that he keeps a close eye on his old team-mate.

Of Rashford, who has scored 93 goals for the club, Rooney said: “To set the record and become Manchester United’s top scorer, it’s bloody massive.

“But I hope the record will be broken.

“What I’m hoping is Marcus Rashford gets his head out of his ass and breaks that record. He’s a boy from Manchester.”

Rashford wasn’t the only thing on Rooney’s thoughts, he remembered play next to it Cristiano Ronaldo and how Carlos Tevez proved a disappointment.
