Wayne Rooney admits alcohol almost parted his family after ‘selfie’

WAYNE Rooney admits drinking nearly ruined his family after a series of drunken “mistakes” – but insists he is not an alcoholic.
England’s record goalscorer revealed that he went out drinking alone for two days while at Man United.
Wife Coleen forgave him after a number of famous incidents over the years, including being photographed sleeping in a hotel room with girls in July.
Rooney, 36 years old, admitted to having had difficult discussions with his wife.
The father of four said: “There have been mistakes in the past that I always try to overcome.
“When difficult moments came, we talked about them and figured out how we were going to get through it.
“The first thing you see is she forgave some of the things I did but then we’re always open about it and figure out what’s best for us as a family.”
He told how he used eye drops to cover his “drunk” as he struggled to deal with the soccer star.
And he says it often leads to “explosion”.
The Derby boss recalls: “Coleen could see it coming all the time. I would say, ‘F*** it’ and go out and make silly mistakes. ”
We revealed on Saturday Coleen now asserts about him being spied on on nights out to save their 13-year marriage.
However, ahead of his new Amazon biopic, Rooney, he said: “My relationship with drinks is fine now.
“It’s okay. I still drink a lot. It’s not like before. It’s not like when I was playing. It’s well controlled.
“I never thought of myself as an alcoholic.”
