WATCH: Two men stealing rebar at construction site caught on camera

CAPE CORAL, Fla. – Two men were caught stealing cameras from a Cape Coral construction site on Wednesday afternoon. Normally, burglaries like this don’t affect homebuyers, it affects the business, says Gilardi Construction.

Construction manager Adam Gilardi estimated the rebar to be worth around $200. But note that these days materials are much harder to obtain unless purchased in bulk by larger companies.

“Things like that, it causes delays in our scheduling and we have people that we’re going to have to go home soon,” he said.

Gilardi estimates rebar prices to increase by about 75%. The company said a few weeks ago, about $2,600 of fenugreek, or precast concrete, was stolen from one of its other locations in Lehigh Acres.
