The first trailer starring Evan Peters as Jeffrey Dahmer is here, and it’s getting spooky — fast.
Netflix released the first trailer for Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story on Friday, starring Emmy-winner Ryan Murphy, who Peters worked with on American Horror Story.
The nearly 3-minute clip begins with the 35-year-old actor donning the serial killer’s signature aviator glasses and shaggy haircut while escorting a young black man into his apartment.
“Home sweet home,” Peters murmurs as he unlocks the door.
Once inside, the man uses his hat to banish the apartment’s foul smell before Peters eerily locks him inside the apartment – forever.
A montage follows of Peters using various methods to torture – and eat – other innocent visitors, while Dahmer’s real-life neighbor Glenda Cleveland, played by Niecy Nash, who was trying to stop him from killing, asks, “What are you doing you in there The smells, power tools running all night.”
“I hear screams coming from your apartment,” she adds.
Peters doesn’t answer her, instead offering her a mysterious meat sandwich.
“Eat it,” he insists near the end of the clip.
“You were all late,” says a hysterical Cleveland to a police officer. “I’ve been calling you for months and it’s too late!”
From 1978 to 1991, the real Dahmer raped, murdered, and dismembered at least 17 men and boys in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was arrested in July 1991 and jailed in February 1992 at Columbia Correctional Institution in Portage, Wisconsin.
In addition to Peters and Nash, the film’s main cast includes Richard Jenkins (Lionel Dahmer), Penelope Ann Miller (Joyce Dahmer), Molly Ringwald (Shari Dahmer), Michael Learned (Catherine Dahmer), Shaun J. Brown (Tracy Edwards) and Colin Ford ( Chaz).
Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story launches on Netflix September 21.
