Washington DC Supreme Court warning as ‘suspicious package’ triggers road closures and employees ‘warned to avoid area’

A SUSPECT package was discovered at the Supreme Court in Washington DC, prompting road closures and warnings to avoid the area.
The U.S. Capitol Police are responding to the situation, which was initially reported just before 5 p.m. local time.
Staff and personnel are being advised to avoid the area at this time.
Multiple road closures are in effect while Capitol Police conduct investigations.
First Street between Constitution Avenue NE and East Capitol Street, Maryland Avenue between First and Second Street NE, and Constitution Avenue between First Street NW and Second Street NE are all closed.
US Capitol Police did not immediately respond to The Sun’s request for comment.
The incident comes as a vote on the nomination of Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court is expected this week.
