Video shows a runner hitting a sucker at the Florida HS track meeting

A wild sucker punch was thrown during a high school race in Florida over the weekend.

The blow came at Saturday’s Tohopekaliga Tiger Invitational in Kissimmee.

According to Canadian Running Magazine, the incident happened during a 1,600 meter race.

TMZ cites witnesses who said the athlete who delivered the punch was not involved in the race. He was reportedly standing on the course, and the runner in first place – who was eventually beaten – told him to get out of the way.

During the next round, the athlete, instead of moving, is said to have continued to impede the first place finisher, who knocked him over.

In apparent retaliation, the athlete in black chased after him and hit him on the head.

It was not immediately known if criminal charges were being filed over the incident.

Running Magazine reported that police were called about the incident, but it wasn’t immediately known if charges would be filed.
