A day after Vanderpump Rules star Katie Maloney offered some hope that she “feels genuinely loved and supported” after having lunch with her recently estranged husband Tom Schwartz, photos from the gathering paint a more complicated picture.

Katie, 35, and Tom, 39, were spotted dining together in Studio City, California over the weekend.

Both were dressed casually, Tom wore a light blue patterned sweatshirt over gray sweatpants, and Katie wore a black sweatshirt and white trousers that showed the likenesses of Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes from their theatrical version of Romeo + Juliet.

The pair kept their sunglasses on as they ate dinner outside.

But perhaps most strikingly, the pair seemed to keep their distance from each other and at times didn’t seem to enjoy their reunion.

An eyewitness told TMZ the two mostly talked on the phone over lunch. And while they did occasionally chat, they weren’t affectionate.

THE SEPARATION

Katie and Tom announced their split via separate Instagram posts last week after The Sun exclusively revealed their relationship was on the rocks.

Katie told her followers: “After 12 years of adventuring through life together, Tom and I are ending our marriage.”

She added: “This ending will not be met with resentment or hostility, there are no sides to choose from.

“We have a deep admiration for one another that will always remain, and we cherish our friendship.”

The couple had been fueling breakup rumors for weeks after the podcast host shared cryptic quotes about divorce and shared photos that emphasized them without a wedding ring.

Katie tied the knot with the TomTom co-founder in 2016, although the two never formally submitted their documents and had to hold another ceremony in 2019 to legally seal the deal.

Katie and Tom’s troubled marriage was well documented in Vanderpump Rules.

Before their split was confirmed, the couple dealt with numerous issues, including infidelity.

But during their lunch, Tom was apparently still wearing his wedding ring.

Shortly after their meeting, Katie opened up on Instagram and answered fan questions with thin-filled replies that seem to evoke a positive aftermath of their lunch.

When a fan simply asked: “How are you?” Katie, 35, replied: “I’m really fine. I really feel loved and supported.

“I’m very hopeful.”
