Boris Johnson’s vaccine minister has left the BOOSTER shot to Britons every year indefinitely.
Maggie Thgroup says the continuous hits will help protect against future “unpredictable” spikes.
Downing Street went after the minister this morning and confirmed it was part of the long term strategy.
At Question Time, Thgroup was asked if she agreed with Pfizer’s boss that annual raids would be needed.
Like the annual flu shot, the congressman said: “For now, it looks like we’ll do, looking at how the virus has spread.
“One thing about this virus is that it’s definitely unpredictable. Just when we thought we were somewhere, it became clear that we had a new variant.”
OrderA spokesperson for e PM said Ms Throup is referencing the Government’s Winter Plan that “further doses of vaccine may be made available in the future”.
Earlier this week, ministers contracted 114 million vaccines for 2023 and 2024 to “future-proof” their rollout.
Mr Johnson, who received his third shot on Thursday, praised that more than 18 million adults had received the energy drink and urged more to continue.
He promised all the adults would be boosted in January to beat Omicron.
Four hundred soldiers have been deployed to help deploy at vaccine centers that Mr Johnson said would “sprout like a Christmas tree”.
Speaking after the shooting, he said: “We are building the wall of protection higher and higher.
“Anything Omicron can or may not do certainly won’t negate the overall value of the boosters – so everyone should buy your booster as soon as possible.”
