A Republican candidate running for the Utah state Senate released a rap-style video promoting her campaign – prompting mockery from social media users.
Grandmother Linda Paulson of Utah is running for the Utah State Senate seat in District 12. She announced her candidacy in the video posted to YouTube.
Paulson, who appeared to be having a blast in the video, began her rap by dancing and affirming her love for “God and family and the Constitution.”
“I was trying to get another Conservative to work. Nobody could do it. So I’ll finish it,” said Grandma.
Paulson said she was pro-religion, pro-life, pro-police, pro-armament and pro-freedom of speech.
Paulson then drops a line above it “Supporting the traditional family as the fundamental unit of society.”
Paulson also quips, “Just to be clear…as a female adult, I know what a woman is.”
“If you share my values, if you like what I stand for, then vote for me on November 8,” the candidate said. “District 12 needs an election. let me be your voice.”
“Linda Paulson, Linda Paulson for the Senate,” Paulson concludes, raising his hands.
The video has been viewed over 74,000 times on Paulson’s YouTube channel and has been viewed millions of times after being shared by various Twitter users.
It received a mixed reception on social media, with some users calling it terrifying and bad-looking to Republicans.
“Imagine voting for an adult who actually thought it was a good idea,” read one top-liked YouTube comment.
“Her granddaughter was playing Hamilton in the car once and she said ‘I can do that,'” joked another commenter.
“That must be a joke, right? This has to be satire,” wrote one stunned social media user.
But not all social media users disliked it, with some describing it as “healthy”.
“Oh, that’s cute. She seems like a nice lady,” said one Twitter user. “I would choose her if I lived there.”
“Linda Paulson, if I lived in Utah you would have my vote!” exclaimed another commenter.
Paulson’s video even caught the attention of conservative Christian rapper Bryson Gray.
Gray offered a remix of Paulson’s video he announced on Twitter.
He starts by saying, “Linda, I got you.”
“If you vote for Linda, District 12 will boom. So, choose Linda Paulson. why are you hesitating She’ll have Utah on the ball,” Gray raps.
Paulson is up against Democratic incumbent Karen Mayne, who is also the minority leader in the Utah Senate.
Paulson did not respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
