But there are tons of tweaks you can make to optimize your experience before you launch PS5 exclusive game.

Mute the DualSense microphone

When your console starts up, did you know the microphone on your DualSense is enabled by default?

This feature will be included in the game and not to replace the headset.

And more importantly, you don’t want to accidentally broadcast what’s going on in your living room to fellow gamers in the lobby.

You can disable the microphone at startup in your control panel settings: Just go to ‘Settings’ > ‘Sound’ > ‘Microphone’ > ‘Microphone status at login’ and change the setting from ‘ On’ to ‘Mute’.

This way your microphone will be muted when you turn on the control panel, if you forget to disable it manually.

You can quickly turn it on and off by pressing the button under the PS logo on your DualSense controller.

When muted, the button lights up, so you’ll quickly know if it’s muted or not.

Save your DualSense battery life

While we’re on the topic of your DualSense controller – now available in wider color range – all the nifty next-generation features it packs in draining the battery.

To save power, you can set your DualSense to idle if it’s not being used, instead of always on, which is the default option.

Just go to ‘Settings’ > ‘System’ > ‘Energy Saver’ > ‘Set Time Until Controller Turns Off’.

You can now toggle this setting so that your DualSense turns off after 10, 30 or 60 minutes.

Set PS5 game presets for difficulty, camera and graphics mode

If you know what you like when it comes to game mode settings, you’ll love this little hack.

Instead of adjusting the difficulty, camera view, and graphics mode for each new game, you can use the Game Preset option on your console.

That way your preferences will be saved and applied to every game you play.

Navigate to ‘Settings’ > ‘Saved Data and Game/App Settings’ > ‘Game Presets’.

You can now set default difficulty, camera control and graphics mode (performance or fidelity).

See your play time

Curious to know how long you have been immersed in your favorite games?

You can take a look at a turn if playtime stats – as well as those of your friends – are from the Home screen.

Highlight your avatar at the top right of the Home screen and press ‘X’ to be shown with a list of options.

Head down to ‘Profile’ and from here you can scroll through ‘Games’ to see your stats for each title you’ve played in your library.

Control and manage your PS5 from your phone

From monthly PS Plus games and your favorites, to launching games and managing your console storage, the revamped PlayStation app can do it all and then some.

You can remotely manage your PS5 from the app, so if you’re too busy adding monthly free games to your library or want a game ready for release as soon as you get home. , you can do it all from your smartphone.

You can find it in App Store and Google Play Store It’s free and can be used for voice and text chat, as well as a bunch of other functions.

Make sure you download it right after unboxing your console and explore all the available features.
