University of Alabama student Alaa Mohd Abusaad convicted of concealing al-Qaeda funds

A former University of Alabama student was sentenced Wednesday to more than seven years in prison for covering up al-Qaeda funding.
Alaa Mohd Abusaad, 26, pleaded guilty in 2019 to terrorism financing concealment after telling an undercover FBI agent how to send money to terrorists.
Abusaad also told the Undercover Feed that “money” for the terrorists “is always needed.”
The former college student urged the agent to use false names and addresses when sending electronic funds transfers to avoid detection by police.
Abusaad was also sentenced to a 10-year supervised prison term, federal prosecutors said.
The woman’s attorneys argued that her mental health issues left her vulnerable to the dangers of interest, WBMA-TV reported.
