UN chief Antonio Guterres met with Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, according to a UN spokesman.
Guterres is expected to travel to Ukraine for Thursday’s meeting, the UN said.
The UN chief will also meet with Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba and UN agency staff to discuss how to help Ukraine amid the humanitarian crisis.
The United Nations said earlier today Guterres will be “received by President Vladimir Putin” on Tuesday after meeting and having lunch with Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
A UN spokesman said Wednesday that Guterres is asking for separate audiences with Putin in Moscow and Zelenskyy in Ukraine.

Guterres wants to “discuss urgent steps to bring about peace in Ukraine and the future of multilateralism based on the United Nations Charter and international law,” according to a statement by UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric.
“He noted that both Ukraine and the Russian Federation are founding members of the United Nations and have always strongly supported this organization,” the statement concluded.
This is the first face-to-face meeting between Guterres and Putin since the invasion of Ukraine began on February 24.
