Britain gets lashed with rain (1/2)
Brits can expect a breezy weekend as the Met Office predicts cloudy conditions, but temperatures are expected to hover between 12 and 13C throughout.
Claire Nasir, meteorologist at the Met Office, said: “We have a relentless easterly wind delivering more clouds from time to time over the next few days and some lower temperatures will feel cold in this breeze.
“Tonight you can see clouds across central parts of Scotland, the Borders regions and Northumberland.
“Another cloud train is moving over East Anglia, the Midlands and central southern England in the early hours of Friday morning.
“Many areas will be dry but some cloudy conditions in the far north of Scotland.
“The lowest temperatures will be in the Glens of Scotland. But definitely a windy start to the day in most parts. Gusty over the hills.
“As Friday morning progresses any cloud will tend to fade over Scotland and northern England while we will see some showers in the south as clouds move towards more western areas.
“The brightest skies in mid Wales, the north Midlands, and that’s where we see the high temperatures, especially heading west in the shelter and coolness along the east coast.”
