Snow falls after Christmas
The weather chart shows snow will fall in the Northwest on December 27, with 1cm expected in just one hour.
By December 28 – after continuous blizzards overnight – 2cm of snow per hour will cover lands in the North West and South of Scotland, Southampton and Cardiff.
Elsewhere, it could fall over the entire west of the UK on December 29, before spreading to the northeast.
The chance of snowfall is 50% in southern England, rising to 65% in the Lake District, 75% in Liverpool and 100% in central Scotland, according to Netweather.
Temperatures look set to drop to the UK average of -1C, rise to a day high of just 6C and winds to a potential 70mph.
