UK records 93,045 Covid cases as daily toll hits new record again

Another 93,045 people in the UK have tested positive for Covid-19 as daily phone numbers hit an all-time high.

This record was also broken yesterday, when 88,376 other coronavirus infections has been confirmed.

It comes after Boris Johnson warned the UK was facing a ‘tide wave’ of cases caused by the highly transmissible variant of Omicron.

In the past seven days, 477,229 new cases of Covid-19 have been recorded, while 794 people have died.

Government figures today show another 111 people have died within 28 days of testing positive for the virus – bringing the UK’s official death toll to 147,048.
