LONDON (Reuters) – Britain’s foreign secretary has criticized what she called “unacceptable pressure” from China after Lithuania’s diplomatic mission left the country on Wednesday in a hastily arranged exit. yellow.
Beijing, which has stepped up pressure on countries to sever ties with Taiwan, downgraded diplomatic ties with Lithuania in November after the island opened a representative office in the Baltic nation’s capital.
A diplomatic source told Reuters that a group of 19 people including Lithuanian embassy staff and dependents left Beijing en route to Paris on Wednesday.
