In September, Usyk beat Anthony Joshua to claim the British WBO, WBA, IBF and IBO heavyweight belts, a month before Fury stopped Deontay Wilder in a three-part bout to retain the WBC belt.
Although the first of those results sparked a long-awaited all-British unification bout between Fury and Joshua – for now at least – it has increased fan appetite. for the duel between ‘Gypsy King’ and Usyk.
Such a fight seems unlikely in the near future, with Joshua having activated the rematch clause to face Usyk again, and Fury has been ordered to fight obligatory challenger Dillian Whyte. But Fury and Usyk met in New York City’s Madison Square Garden over the weekend, two undefeated boxers talking to each other.
