Tyson Fury reveals what he told Oleksandr Usyk during their first face-to-face meeting

Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk faced off for the first time over the weekend, determining each other’s dimensions ahead of a potential future clash.

In September, Usyk beat Anthony Joshua to claim the British WBO, WBA, IBF and IBO heavyweight belts, a month before Fury stopped Deontay Wilder in a three-part bout to retain the WBC belt.

Although the first of those results sparked a long-awaited all-British unification bout between Fury and Joshua – for now at least – it has increased fan appetite. for the duel between ‘Gypsy King’ and Usyk.

Such a fight seems unlikely in the near future, with Joshua having activated the rematch clause to face Usyk again, and Fury has been ordered to fight obligatory challenger Dillian Whyte. But Fury and Usyk met in New York City’s Madison Square Garden over the weekend, two undefeated boxers talking to each other.

Fury, 33, also had a message for Wilder, whom he stopped twice in bouts, saying: “Go on, champ, you can do it!

“I believe in Deontay Wilder. He’s going to be the heavyweight champion again. Believe.”

Fury is unbeaten in 32 fights, with 31 wins (22 through knockout) and one draw – in his first meeting with Wilder.

Meanwhile, Usyk, 34, has won all of his 19 professional fights, with 13 KOs to his name.
