Twitter Suspends Babylon Bee For Rachel Levine’s Man Of The Year Title

Twitter suspended the account of a right-wing parody site, The Babylon Bee, after it awarded Rachel Levine, the Biden administration’s transgender official, the Man of the Year title.

Babylon Bee’s story was in response to USA Today’s nomination of Levine, Assistant Secretary of Health and Human Services at the US Department of Health, as one of its “Women of the Year” last week.

Twitter says it will restore the account, which has more than 1.3million followers, if the bee deletes the tweet, but Dillon says he has no intention of doing so.

“We don’t delete anything,” Dillon tweeted from his personal account. “Truth is not hate speech. If the price of telling the truth is losing our Twitter account, so be it.”

The banned article notes that Levine “proudly serves as the first man in this position to dress like a Western cultural stereotype of a woman. He is also an Admiral in the US Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. What a boss!”

“He often wears a dress, which some people find weird — but he doesn’t give a damn,” the article continues. “Come on! Men in India wear dresses, don’t they?”

Twitter suspended the account after saying the bee violated his account "hateful behavior" Politics.

Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon tweeted the news of the suspension from his own account, and included a screenshot of the Twitter announcement.

Twitter cited its policy on “hateful behavior,” which states, “You must not encourage, threaten, or harass violence against other people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, sex, gender identity, religion, or age, disability.” or serious illness.”
