MO WORRIES

Michael Owen has defend Chelsea’s decision sold Mo Salah five years ago, claiming the Egyptian was once an ‘average finishing player’.

But Owen now believes that SalahThe 29-year-old, who is an ‘unbelievable’ player, admits the striker’s incredible ascent has taken him by surprise.

Salah has scored his 20th goal in 21 games this season as Liverpool beat AC Milan 2-1 last night.

He now has 145 goals in 224 matches for Red, which included an incredible debut season that saw him on target 44 times.

But things have been very different for Salah during his time at Stamford Bridge following his 2014 switch

The player scored just 2 goals in 19 games before being transferred to Fiorentina and Roma on loan.

The Italian capital club then dropped Salah from Chelsea in 2016 before selling to Liverpool in 2017.

And Owen reckons the scoring machine has made great strides, insisting Chelsea have no idea how great Salah will be as he is the best ‘average’ in London.

Reflecting on Salah’s goal against Milan, Owen said: “He made it look too easy, it wasn’t an easy finish.

“He took it when it was going down. The goalkeeper is one foot shorter to save it, one foot taller he saves it.

“He just made it look easy. He was an average finisher earlier in his career and now he is unbelievable.”
