Tom Holland has said he is retiring from social media for mental health reasons.
That Spider-Man: Homecoming star has been absent from social media for the past few weeks.
Holland said he has deleted the Twitter and Instagram apps from his phone and has no intention of posting any time soon.
In a video explaining the move, Holland said: “I find Instagram and Twitter over-stimulating, overwhelming.
“I get trapped and spiral when I read things about myself online and ultimately it’s very detrimental to my mental state. So I decided to take a step back and delete the app.”
Holland also took the opportunity to talk about the teen mental health charity Stem4, which he sponsors.
He spoke at length about the various apps the charity offers, describing them as “amazing” and “really helpful” for young people struggling with mental health.
“So thanks again for listening. I’ll be off Instagram again,” he said. “And thank you to everyone out there for your love and support. I love you all and will speak to you soon.”
Holland is next in the Apple TV+ series The crowded room. Filming for the series began earlier this year in New York.
