TikToker split opinion by ‘joking’ leaving $1,000 server tip
ONE TikToker jokingly left a $1,000 deposit to a server and has since divided opinion among app users.
Jermaine, who uses the username @xmaine24, posted videotapes to his TikTok account.
Text on the screen reads: “It’s best to believe this will reduce but it’s important thinking.”
The bill was just over $30, which means a 20% tip would be about $5.
Instead, Jermaine wrote $1,000 on the tip line.
His actions have divided app users.
One user chimed in by saying that what Jermaine did was “not cool”.
“My coworker had the same thing and she was taxed like crazy despite having to return the money,” continued the user.
“I don’t go out to eat unless I can afford to tip 20%,” another user said.
“Won’t it overdraft?”, one user wrote.
“Not much,” Jermaine replied with a smiley emoji.
Jermaine responded to a comment, telling users to “relax.”
“I deposited cash so it wouldn’t be taxed and they literally pocketed the entire amount.”
But it’s not yet clear if he has a limit on how much he says on the bill.
The video has been viewed more than 276,000 times.
