Three “badly decomposed” bodies of a California family were discovered by police Wednesday morning at their home in what is now being investigated as a year-long murder-suicide, a report said.
According to the Los Angeles Times, officers were conducting a social check on the family at their Irvine residence when they found the decomposing remains of a father, mother and their adult son.
Investigators believe the bodies had been decomposing for more than a year.
“Extended family members of the home’s residents reported to Canadian authorities that they had not been able to contact the residents for over a year and were concerned,” police said, according to the article.
“Intervention officers entered the home and found three badly decomposed bodies inside, which appeared to be adults.”
There was no sign of a forced entry into the home, and police found evidence of a “domestic incident that resulted in a murder-suicide,” according to the report.
The Irvine Police Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Post.
