‘Thor’ trailer teases hero’s retirement and replacement

Is this the last dance for the god of thunder?
So it seems in the first trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder, which teases the titular Avenger (Chris Hemsworth) who is retiring after his universe-saving and carb-loading events in Endgame.
And it seems a familiar face is returning to take on the hero.
“These hands were once used in battle, now they are humble instruments of peace,” says Thor after being shown growing from boy to man through the years. “I need to find out exactly who I am.”
Instead of epic battles over the Aesir, the fourth Thor installment seems to focus on the broken god finding himself – all while fighting with the Guardians of the Galaxy as Guns N’ Roses’ “Sweet Child of Mine”. through space travels plays.

“I will choose my own path. Live in the moment. My days as a superhero are over,” he says as he walks away from the Guardians who prepare to battle an unseen enemy.
Later, when Thor seems lost in his own mind, Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) relays this advice to the confused being of the Force.
“Remember what I told you, if you ever feel lost, just look into the eyes of the people you love. . .Not me!” says Star-Lord as Thor looks into his eyes lovingly. “What?! Just listening,” Thor replies silly.

The fans recently separated from a strong and alcoholic Thor, who was emotionally devastated by the believed death of Loki (Tom Hiddleston), the well-known deaths of his parents, Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), and his own failure to defeat Thanos (Josh Brolin) in Infinity War.
He leaves the settlement of New Asgard in Tønsberg, Norway under the rule of Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) and embarks on a mysterious interstellar adventure with the Guardians.
She seems to be running the show well these days, as a smartly-suited Valkyrie is featured in a boardroom with other leaders from around the world in the new trailer.

elsewhere in the universe Thor is seen losing his “Lebowski” blip weight doing a workout with metal chains while wearing a trucker hat and tank top while meeting a blue-haired obvious love interest who gives the retired Avenger a huge kiss.
The trailer also teases Russell Crowes Debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Zeus most likely holding a lightning bolt in the kingdom of Olympus.
Living rock character Korg, voiced by director Taika Waititi, also appears on one of the many worlds the soul-seeking god seems to visit.

But there’s a major cameo in the final seconds that will have fans raving about this trailer.
Thor’s “old flame” of an Earth friend, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), seems to have taken over his seemingly open cloak when she’s seen wielding the magical hammer Mjolnir while wearing a winged helm in battle.
Foster, now worthy to rule Asgard, returns to the franchise after being absent from “Ragnarok” for “throwing off” Thor, which he says was mutual.
The surprise twist echoes a callback from that film when Thor battled the lost Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) on the planet Sakaar. It’s also similar to when Captain America (Chris Evans) unexpectedly summoned the gun in “Endgame”.
Thor: Love and Thunder hits theaters on July 8th.
