“Have fun partying in the dressing room boys ⚒⚒ West Ham is huge 🔝🔝”
There was plenty of other drama at Groupama Stadium after the final whistle as Lyon fans attempted to invade the pitch.
revolt Police clashed with Lyon ultras and had to use pepper spray to overzealous supporters.
Some fans even threw rockets at Declan Rice when he was substituted off the field late in the game.
Uefa officials also came onto the pitch to escort the rest of the Hammers team off the pitch, but David Moyes still managed to knock the traveling support off the pitch with his fist.
But Soucek and Co. probably won’t care about the unsavory scenes after booking their place in the Europa League semifinals where they meet Eintracht Frankfurt.
The German outfit stunned Barcelona with a 3-0 lead at the Nou Camp – The game ended 3:2, Frankfurt won 4:3 overall.
After the game, Rice told BT Sport: “It’s special. Very, very special.
“We knew it was going to be a difficult place, we knew they had great individual quality, but we knew that with what we had on the pitch, our attacking players and what we were with in the first game had seen them on defence, were able to score goals tonight.
“To get a 2-0 lead and then come out early in the second half and shoot Jarrod into the net as well is a special feeling. It’s a great night for all the fans.”
Adding West Ham’s second, Rice said of his goal: “It was tremendous. When Daws scored it was 2-1 overall and my goal was 3-1 and there was a bit of breathing room.
“When it’s halftime and it’s 2-0, your heart is racing. You just think that the game is still 0-0 because you have to go out and put in another strong performance. It was special and so good.
“If you can’t get up for these games, you shouldn’t be playing football. The rumble during the warm up was chilling and gives you the fire in your stomach to get out there and perform.
“There was some incentive for us to go out and win tonight. Dembele winked at the camera in the first leg and their Twitter admin somehow said they don’t see how they won’t go through.
“These things come back to bite you. We stayed calm, we performed and now West Ham are in the semi-finals. What more do we want?”
