There’s a dangerous new Gmail email you NEED to ignore today

GMAIL and Outlook users are being warned about a dangerous new scam.

Hackers are targeting users in a new way – to steal your personal information and even attack your bank.

Anyone with an email address needs to be on the lookout for this dangerous scam.

It works using emails that appear to be from the cybersecurity company Norton.

Scam – which can cost you thousands of dollars – has been announced by fact-checkers Snore.

So how does the scam work?

The emails claim that the victim has renewed their Norton subscription.

Some of these emails even promise fake products.

Products listed in the email include:

• Norton Total Protection
• Norton Total All Round Security
• Norton 360
• Norton 360 Auto Edition
• Norton PC Life
• Norton Family All Devices
• Norton LifeLock

The idea is that the victim is promised a refund and thinks they are owed money.

This is then used to trick the user into handing over the information.

“Since at least 2021, an email scam has targeted victims with claims that Norton has renewed their annual membership subscription,” Snopes said.

“We’ve reviewed these emails, which are in fact part of a known ‘phishing’ activity intended to trick recipients into revealing personal information.”

Snopes said they called one of the numbers involved in the scam.

A scammer who “could have been on an offshore call center” asked for an email invoice number.

But instead of offering refunds, scammers just use your banking information to steal money.

Some emails claim that up to $524 can be refunded.

Sadly for the victims, this is purely a ruse to take over their bank accounts.

Anyone with an email address can become a victim of this scam.

So, if you have a Gmail or Outlook account, be extremely wary of receiving unsolicited refund emails from companies.

“The best course of action is to delete the phishing emails claiming Norton, renewals and refunds,” said Snopes.

But if you’re ever skeptical, it’s best to contact Norton (or any other brand) directly via the email or phone number listed on the official website.
